Encampment Directions Anyone riding in the van to go to TNWG Encampment will need to meet at Capt Ron Broach’s house on the morning of 4 July, 2009. The van will be LEAVING at 0800, so everyone should be here to load equipment and supplies NLT (No Later Than) 0730. The van is leaving the day before encampment because staff members must be onsite for training on 4 July. Capt Broach’s house is located at 6426 Millstream Drive, Harrison, TN 37341. If you have a GPS device this address will typically get you within site of the house, but it is not exact. Look for the CAP van. You can also CLICK HERE to download a PDF file with maps/instructions. I’m not sure why the pages are not oriented the same way, but when you print it out you can turn the pages the direction you want. If you want to make it a real adventure, the Lat/Long coordinates are N35 7.0315’ W85 8.5163’ DDR page added! There is a new page on our website. A page dedicated specifically to the Drug Demand Reduction program has been added under the Cadet Programs heading. There is information listed about the purpose and mission of the DDR program. There are also links to the DDR regulations which govern what the program is focused on. Finally there is a link to CAP National’s website where the DDR newsletters are posted. Look for more information to be listed here as our squadron becomes more involved in this exciting part of Civil Air Patrol’s service to our local community! |

New link to CAP University The link to CAP University in the “Quick Links” section above has been changed to reflect changes in CAP/NHQ’s website. It now links to the front page of the CAP University which gives both Cadets and Officers different options for online training and testing opportunities. There are more options available than we have room to explain here, so each member is encouraged to explore this valuable area and read about all the opportunities that are available for online training and testing. FEMA Everyone who has Emergency Services Qualifications which require the NIMS classes (FEMA) should be working toward completing this training. The NIMS-700 class is especially important since FEMA will be changing the way this class can be taken. Right now you can get the training online at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp After February 13, 2009 this training will no longer be available online. Get it now while it is easy to obtain! The NIMS-100 and the NIMS-700 is required by CAP for almost every ES position. If you have any active SQTR’s either as a trainee or a fully qualified position, you need to complete this online training. If you have any questions, you can e-mail Capt Marty Nix, ESO.
